This page explains how Blog Digest researches, writes, checks and updates its guides, so you can judge how far to rely on them.
Our Aim
We want every guide to be the clearest, most useful and most accurate answer available to the question in its title, for readers anywhere in the world. That means getting the facts right, showing where they come from, explaining the reasoning behind them and being honest about uncertainty.
How We Choose Topics
We write about questions people genuinely ask: things that affect their money, work and lives, where existing answers are often confusing, out of date or written for only one country. We do not write to promote products, and advertisers have no say in what we cover.
How We Research
- Primary sources first. We take figures and rules from official and original sources wherever possible: central banks such as the US Federal Reserve, the Bank of England and the European Central Bank; statistics offices such as the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the UK Office for National Statistics and Eurostat; tax authorities such as the IRS and HMRC; regulators and deposit insurers; and international bodies such as the IMF, the World Bank, the OECD and the ILO.
- Reputable secondary sources. Where official data is not available, we use well-established research firms, industry bodies and major news organisations, and we say so.
- Latest data, clearly dated. We use the most recent figures available when we write, and we state the month or year each figure refers to.
- Several countries. Where rules differ by country, we check them separately and say which country each rule applies to.
How We Write
- Every guide opens with a short "Quick answer", then explains the topic in full.
- We write in plain language and explain technical terms.
- We separate facts from judgements, and we say when experts disagree or when the evidence is uncertain.
- Calculators and interactive diagrams use the formulas explained in the article and show their assumptions.
- Every guide ends with a "Sources" section linking to its main sources, and a note on what the figures refer to.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help research, draft and check our articles. Every factual claim is checked against the sources we link to before an article is published, and every calculation in our calculators is tested. We do not publish invented experts, quotes, credentials or reviews, and all articles are published under the name Blog Digest.
Updates and Corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when the facts they rely on change, for example after a change in interest rates, tax rules or official statistics. If we find or are told about an error, we correct it promptly, and where a correction changes the meaning of an article, we update the date.
To report an error, please use our contact page and tell us which article and which statement you believe is wrong.
Advertising and Independence
Blog Digest is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are clearly separate from our content. Advertisers do not see articles before publication and have no influence over what we write. We do not accept payment for coverage or for links, and we do not sell financial products.
Not Personal Advice
Our guides are general education, not personal financial, tax, legal or medical advice. Rules and figures change and differ between countries. For important decisions, check the official sources we link to and consider speaking to a qualified, regulated adviser. See our disclaimer.
